Each one should use whatever gifts he has received to serve
others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.
If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words
of God.  If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God
provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus
Christ.  To him be the glory and power forever and ever.  Amen.

1 Peter 4:10-11

Right now we are working primarily with middle school boys. We are using woodworking as a bridge to reach these boys and to tell them and show them the love of Jesus. We are teaching them fundamental woodworking skills as well as some more complex wood joinery. But more importantly, we are developing relationships with them and having the opportunity to share in their life. We pray as summer approaches that numerous volunteers would be obedient to what God is laying on their hearts and come forward to share their God-given talents in tangible ways. We pray for volunteers that would be willing to work with young girls in the neighborhood through painting or arts and crafts. Here are just some of the items that we have considered as possibilities for these youth if we have the proper volunteers:
  • Tutoring
  • Woodworking
  • Repair of small engines - lawnmower/trimmers
  • Painting/Arts/Crafts
  • Music Lessons
  • Scrapbooking/Stamping
  • Ad-hoc training - electrical/ tile/masonry
  • Other
Our desire is that you would pray about this ministry and see if God is calling you to be involved. Maybe you have other ideas to build a bridge. Maybe God is calling you to share your time and talents. Maybe he is calling you to provide financial support. We are a 501(c)3 which means your donations will be tax exempt. But more importantly, we ask you to consider your God given talents and time. Has God blessed you with a business working with wood or maybe engines? If so, why not take those talents and extend them to build a bridge to youth on the East side who in many cases do not have Godly men or women in their lives as role models? Are you gifted by the Holy Spirit to teach? Would you be willing to tutor? Are you an artist? Can you share that gift with a youth? God calls us to use our talents for his Kingdom and Glory. Maybe this is the ministry opportunity that God has laid on your heart.
